AAU and Red Crescent Organize First Aid Cours

AAU and Red Crescent Organize First Aid CourseThe Deanship of Student Affairs at Al Ain University, in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent, organized a First Aid course. The course, entitled “First Aid and Community Health”, aimed at raising health awareness among students and familiarizing them with the basic principles of first aid and responding to emergency. Dr. Ibrahim Sulaiman, Head of Health Care at the Red Crescent, delivered the course which dealt with the importance and basics of First Aid in addition to addressing specific cases and how to respond to them.

Dr. Sulaiman said that the aim of the first aid training and awareness courses is for people to help themselves, their health, and to enable them to face life-threatening situations on the individual, or society level.

During the course, the basic principles of first aid were explained in addition to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The course also introduced the correct practice in various cases such as drowning, burns, fractures, unconsciousness, and others as well as dealing with group injuries and car accidents, Dr. Sulaiman added.

On her part, Dr. Zuhrieh Shana’a, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, reiterated that AAU is keen on organizing courses and workshops that contribute to raising health awareness through close collaboration with the relevant public organizations. The “First Aid and Community Health” course comes to educate students about the importance of first aid in different emergency cases.
