Al Ain University Marks Gulf Disability Day

Al Ain University Marks Gulf Disability DayThe Community Service Committee at Al Ain University participated in the event organized by the Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO) – Al Ain, in commemoration of the Gulf Disability Day 2012.

AAU faculty members and students participated through a number of activities. Dr. Sameer Duqmaq provided consultancy and educational counseling, and Dr. Fawzi Ishteiwa gave a talk on the opportunities information technology presents to persons with disabilities.

Similarly, Dr. Yasser Abdelhafeth and Ms. Khawla Al Qaisi presented a series of engaging games. Moreover, students from the Professional Diploma in Teaching program showcased teaching aids specifically designed for students with disabilities.

Al Ain University Marks Gulf Disability Day

AAU ensured that the audience of children with disabilities and their parents were involved in the activities. While children went home with a smile on their faces and a prize in their hands, their parents left loaded with invaluable advice presented by AAU faculty members.

Dr. Ibtehal Abu Rezq, Dean of Student Affairs and Chair of the Community Service Committee, highlighted taking part in such an event that targets an important and special group of society. She also thanked TRANSCO and Al Ain Rehabilitation and Care Center for People with Special Needs for giving AAU the opportunity to participate in the event.

At the end of the event, Mr. Mohammad Al Haddadi, Director of Al Ain Rehabilitation and Care Center for People with Special Needs, presented a certificate of appreciation to Al Ain University and the Community Service Committee.
