AAU College of Engineering Student among Top 10 Contestants at GITEX 2013

Nazih MallatThe GITEX Technology week, one of the most important technology exhibitions in the world, will kick off in October at Dubai World Trade Center. This year, GITEX will launch the “Student Lab Competition” to recognize and encourage the ICT students to innovate and experiment. The organizers have received numerous entries from universities in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia as well as the UAE. The best 18 applications were selected, and the 18 teams competed in the second round of the competition where all the 18 projects were evaluated by a jury who selected the top 10 projects.

Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Head of the Departments of Networks & Communications Engineering and Computer Engineering, mentioned that the student “Karam Alnafous” from the AAU College of Engineering and Information Technology has been selected among the top 10 at GITEX Technology Week 2013 - Student Lab Competition for his project entitled: “Connection between PC and Smart Phone with Map Technology”. The student has been invited to showcase and present his innovative project at GITEX Technology Week 2013 to the leaders in the ICT industry. During the last day of GITEX Technology Week 2013 the jury and the participants will vote for the top 3 projects and contestants who will have a chance to win cash prizes and training opportunities.

 Dr. Mallat reiterated that the college is highly proud that one of its students has qualified for the final round of such an important worldwide competition. The AAU College of Engineering and Information Technology works tirelessly to allow students the opportunity to participate and get involved in such activities as this will give them more visibility and better experience and credibility.
