AAU Preparations for the New Academic YearAl Ain University is preparing for the beginning of the new academic year 2014-2015 through a variety of equipment and new services for students, parents, and visitors.

Following is a brief description of the AAU preparations for the new academic year at each of Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campuses starting from the registration of students, providing an appropriate academic and social environment, and taking care of the mental and physical health, with finally putting them on the first steps to success in their future work.

 Al Ain Campus

With the increased number of new students at the university, AAU has reorganized the Admission and Registration Unit through the provision of facilities and some new arrangements for students where AAU has developed a new department dedicated for admission; the department will address all issues related to freshmen and will respond to all queries by new students and their parents. The staff at the department will also offer comprehensive information on all specializations, departments, and colleges and will complete the admission process to help save time and effort by skipping the otherwise lengthy routine procedures.

In addition, AAU had developed the process of registration for students through the online portal where the student reviews the study plan, courses offered, instructors, available times, open sections, and then enrolls in classes accordingly. This service has seen further development, thanks to the cooperation between AAU and local banks; it now offers the feature of both registration and payment electronically without having to personally come to campus in order to complete the registration and payment.

Further, as part of the process of development and modernization, AAU has recently agreed with the British Council to take the necessary measures to start holding (IELTS) at AAU as of September 2014 under the supervision of the British Council.

As part of the university's efforts to increase the effectiveness of the educational process and linking it to the practical side of the student's future, a virtual Pharmacy has been prepared on campus with more than 500 varieties of medicines and medical products as well as spaces for medical consultations. This step comes as part of the provision of training for future pharmacists through their presence in the environment that simulates that in private pharmacies; the training will take place under the supervision of the faculty members of the College of Pharmacy to ensure academic and practical guidance and to provide them with first-hand experience which will enable them to perform confidently and effectively in their future careers.

Moreover, AAU is keen on facilitating the students’ campus life; therefore, it has developed and introduced several amenities and facilities including the renovation of the gate at the female students’ side, the introduction of a greater number of parking spaces for students, maintenance and refitting of the classrooms comprehensively to offer a suitable learning environment for students. On the recreational and physical level, AAU ensured offering healthy food to students through on-campus dedicated cafeterias in addition to the sports facilities such as the gym and sports hall.

With regard to library services for the new academic year, AAU has been keen to enhance library e-services and provide textbooks in each of the library Khalifa and warehouse bookstore inside the university campus.

 Abu Dhabi Campus

New students have been allocated dedicated reception areas in the Admission and Registration Unit to answer all inquiries and provide support and guidance. AAU has prepared a multi-purpose hall (Dhafra Hall) to be a hub of student and university activities on different occasions.

AAU spares no effort in developing the educational process and securing all necessary services the students as well as the local community; it also strives to achieve integration between the learning process and extracurricular activities that would benefit both the students and the community.
