More than 150 researchers hosted by AAU at the First International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences

Al Ain University has launched its First International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, which lasted for two days, from 18 to the 19th of January 2023, at the university's headquarters in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

The conference was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Hawaa Saeed Al Mansoori- An endocrinologist and healthcare executive, and Deputy Medical Director of Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh- Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees (AAU), Prof. Ghaleb Al-Refae- AAU President, Dr. Khairi Mustafa- Dean of the College of Pharmacy and the honorary president of the conference, Prof. Mohammad Ghattas, Deputy Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Vice President of the Conference, the deans of the colleges and a number of faculty members and students in the College of Pharmacy.

More than 150 researchers, academics, and students from 10 Arab and foreign countries will participate in the conference, and more than 120 research papers will be reviewed through a series of workshops, along with the lectures presented by two note speakers: Prof. Mark von Itzstein- Professor of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry Executive Director of the Institute for Glycomics Griffith University Queensland, Australia and Prof. Jonathan Ling- Professor of the Public Health University of Sunderland UK.

The First International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences included several topics discussions, most notably: Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacology and Molecular Therapies, Drug Design and Discovery, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Nutrition, and Food Sciences.

The conference was accompanied by an exhibition of a group of pharmaceutical companies and providers of medical equipment and laboratory materials, an additional workshop on molecular modeling presented by Schrödinger, as well as a scientific competition for postgraduate students in conjunction with the conference activities.

Prof. Ghaleb Al-Refae indicated that AAU attaches great importance to scientific research by urging faculty members to publish qualitative scientific publications in prestigious scientific fields, in addition to establishing a number of research centers, including the Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Center for Health and Biomedicine Research. The university also provides permanent support to its faculty members to participate in local, regional, and international scientific conferences.

Dr. Khairi Mustafa thanked the invited speakers as well to all of the presenters who participated in either oral or poster presentations. 

It is worth mentioning that, The First International Conference on Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences is an essential part of continuing the educational and research process, which aims to provide scientists, professors, Pharmacists, Nutritionists, Practitioners, and students from all over the world with a scientific forum to share, discuss and exchange original research ideas in order to strengthen the research collaborations between our academic institutions and centers.
