Testing Services

The English Language Centre at Al Ain University is an official IELTS registration centre and a Platinum Member of the British Council IELTS Partnership Programme. IELTS registration and testing services are available at both the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campuses, serving AAU students and staff as well as members of the wider community and giving candidates convenient local access to one of the world's most widely recognised English language tests for study, work, and migration. The ELC has repeatedly been ranked a British Council Top Performer in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, reflecting its commitment to high standards of test administration and candidate support. Our team is available to guide candidates through registration, test dates, and preparation options, ensuring a smooth and well-supported testing experience.

Test Format

IELTS has four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Candidates can choose from two test formats:

IELTS on Computer (Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campuses): Candidates use a keyboard and mouse for the Listening, Reading, and Writing components. Results are available in 1–5 days.

IELTS on Computer with Writing on Paper (Al Ain Campus only): Candidates use a keyboard and mouse for the Listening and Reading components, and pen and paper for the Writing component. Results are available in 1–5 days.

Total Test Time

The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading, and Writing tests are completed in one sitting. Candidates are notified of the time of their Speaking interview when they apply.

Test Fees

The IELTS test fee is AED 1,590.
