Blood Donation Campaign at Al Ain University

The Student Affairs Deanships at Al Ain University in both campuses, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, have organized a blood donation drive in cooperation with the Blood Bank at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi and Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, where the initiative comes from the University that aimed at strengthening communication and collaboration, and reaffirmed by the teachings of Islam, as well as endeavoring to implement good leaders in the State. The University is working on transferring information to the students and guide them towards the right way to share and learn their importance and their roles in building a coherent and responsible society.
On this occasion, Dr Ibtehal Aburezeq, Dean of the Student Affairs, said that the campaign has come under the University’s keen to participate in various social activities aimed at enhancing awareness among students about the importance of participating actively in community issues, and consolidating the spirit of belonging to the State of UAE that has sought to provide solutions to the chronic diseases of the blood, and hence to meet the growing demand for transfused blood units.
Moreover, Dr Iyad Abdul Majeed, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, claimed that the campaign’s organization has come in the framework of strengthening the University's responsibility towards the community and in line with its role in humanitarian aid and assistance to the patients and the hospitals that need lots of transfused blood units necessary to support different kinds of surgical operations.
More than 100 students participated in the campaign, plus faculty members at the University and a number of employees.
It is noteworthy that this campaign contributed to the collection over 55 units of blood transmitted.
