Software Engineering Students at Al Ain University Excel in the NextGen Industry Challenge in Abu Dhabi

Students from the Software Engineering program at the Abu Dhabi campus participated in the NextGen Industry Challenge, held as part of the Make it in the Emirates Forum at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
This challenge provided a unique opportunity for students to apply their technical knowledge to solve real industrial and defense-related problems using cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, and scanning.
The team, supervised by Engineer Esra Al Nashash, included students Awaiz Ahmad, Bilal Feiruz, and Mohammad Omair. They were divided into groups tasked with developing innovative solutions using advanced tools like the Boston Dynamics Spot Robot, the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D Printer, and the Shining 3D FreeScan Combo 3D Scanner.
The students tested their projects on the EDGE platform and presented their solutions before a judging panel comprising experts from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, EDGE Group, and industry partners.
This experience greatly enriched the students’ practical and technical skills, enhanced their innovative thinking and teamwork abilities. The participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity and their eagerness to take part in more events that bridge academia and industry.
