Civil Engineering Students Win Third Place in Engineering Innovation

The Civil Engineering team from Al Ain University won third place at the Engineering Innovation Exhibition 2026, hosted by the University of Wollongong in Dubai, for their innovative project "Cement-Free Pervious Concrete," supervised by Dr. Omar Najm. The project offers a sustainable engineering solution based on the development of environmentally friendly building materials, contributing to the promotion of sustainable construction practices and supporting modern trends in the construction sector.

This achievement came as part of Al Ain University's participation in the exhibition through its Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, in collaboration with the College of Engineering – Abu Dhabi Campus. The exhibition witnessed fierce competition among top university students and their innovative projects in various engineering and technical fields, reflecting the excellence of the university's students and their ability to provide innovative solutions that serve the community and meet the requirements of sustainable development.

The Software Engineering team also participated with their "Ecoloop" project, supervised by Dr. Yazid Ghadi. The team presented an innovative technological concept aimed at employing technology to address environmental and societal challenges, demonstrating a high level of creativity and awareness of the importance of sustainable digital solutions. The team delivered an outstanding performance during the competition, reflecting the competence of the university's students and their ability to develop impactful projects.

This achievement came amidst fierce competition that included 82 projects from 8 universities, reflecting the high academic standards and innovative capabilities of Al Ain University students, and their ability to compete in various scientific and engineering forums.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center affirmed that this participation aligns with Al Ain University's vision of fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, empowering them to transform their creative ideas into practical projects that contribute to serving the community and supporting sustainable development, thus enhancing their readiness for the demands of the future and the job market.
