This office works to integrate people of determination with the University community by creating a sustainable learning environment throughout their studies and until their graduation from the University. It contributes to empowering this category of students and arranging their own educational provisions to ensure a fair opportunity to meet all their learning requirements.
The office conducts an orientation day in the beginning of each semester to introduce the students to the available services and University facilities. In addition, taking comments or suggestions from their side to improve or provide any services that might help them during their study. There is also a follow up with them each semester in all the courses they register to identify any special needs during the term related to the teaching methods used and to provide any special requirements based on their health condition.

The College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University (Al Ain Campus) organized a lecture entitled “How to deal with the People of Determination” presented by Mrs. Arwa Al Maqtari, General Coordinator of External Customer Service in Al Ain Center for Care and Rehabilitation, and Mrs. Nayla Al Khatri, Head of Hearing disability division in the center. In the presence of academic staff and students of the college.
The lecture focused on the definition of “People of Determination” locally and internationally, the law of their rights within the UAE, ways of dealing with them as active members of society, and the main categories of disability (mobility, sensory and mental).
This lecture aims to contribute in creating a positive environment, enabling them to exercise their educational, functional, cultural and social rights in line with their abilities and aspirations towards a more active role in society.
It is worth to mention that, Al Ain University pays special attention to the students with special needs and provides them with all the services that meet their needs.

Education students discuss the psychological importance in artificial intelligence
Student Fatima Al Sraira and student Saeeda Yousef from Arts in Applied Psychology program at Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi campus, presented a virtual lecture for the students of Um Al Arab government school about the artificial intelligence and the psychological aspect, in the presence of the parents and teachers.
The lecture discussed several aspects; The importance of applied psychology specialization and its impact on artificial intelligence, the importance of harnessing artificial intelligence for the benefit of the needs of people of determination, such as virtual arms, electronic bracelet and smart facilities.
MOU between Al Ain University and “Zayed Higher Organization”
Al Ain University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs to promote cooperation aspects and partnerships in the area of joint work.
The MOU signed by Prof. Ghaleb El Refae, AAU President, and HE Abdullah Al-Humaidan, Secretary General of Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, at the university campus at Al Ain, in the presence of Colleges Deans, Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Development and Follow-Up, Dean of Research and Graduate Studies and Deputy Deans from Al Ain University, in addition to Mr. Abdullah Ismail Kamali, Head of Special Needs Sector and a delegation from the foundation.
The signing of the MOU is based on the social responsibility that the two parties commit to, in order to realize the joint commitments between the two parties in the field of education, scientific research and community interaction to rehabilitate the People of Determination.
Under the MOU, the two parties will cooperate to create the appropriate academic environment for the People of Determination, to suit their talents and abilities, Provide the printing service in “Braille” language for blind students, and providing training courses in sign language for the deaf.
The two parties also facilitate the process of conducting research and scientific studies in the field of care and rehabilitation of the People of Determination. In addition, to, organize various activities and workshops and joint events in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Prof. El Refae said that signing this MOU comes based on the social responsibility and the University's keenness to participate actively in the care of the “People of Determination", Stressing the keenness of the AAU to provide the appropriate environment and all their needs and integrate them into society. He praised Zayed’s Higher Organization efforts for providing the best care and rehabilitation programs with international standards for the People of Determination.
HE Al-Humaidan praised the role played by Al Ain University in working to integrate the people of Determination in the community, which will increase their efficiency and their confidence and make them able to work and capable of production.
He stressed that the Foundation continues its plans for development, in order to improve the level of provided services in line with best practices and the highest international standards, in order to achieve the goal of the Government of Abu Dhabi in providing social development that guarantees a decent life for the UAE community.
